FAQs
iOS: How do I navigate while using Driver App?
If your car has CarPlay, you can record your trip with the Driver App while using the CarPlay Console to run your preferred Navigation app.
If your car doesn’t have CarPlay, you can use Driver Nav! Since Apple restricts background recording, we rebuilt Apple Maps and incorporated it into the Driver App. We are constantly improving on it, so we’d appreciate it if you gave it a try and shared your feedback.
Android: How do I use navigation and other apps with Driver?
Just start a recording with the Driver App, and Driver will continue recording even after switching to any other app. If you forget to stop your recording, Driver will automatically stop recording after detecting that you’re no longer driving.
What about storage and data usage?
The Driver app comes with auto-delete capabilities to make sure your phone doesn’t run out of storage. Don’t worry though, all your trips will get uploaded to the Driver Cloud before being deleted.
How do I know if my videos have been successfully uploaded to the Cloud?
Driver uploads two copies of your trip, one in SD and another in HD, to the Driver Cloud at the end of every trip. When both SD and HD videos have been successfully uploaded, you’ll see a green cloud icon on the Trip Gallery of your Driver App. If you initially share a trip using the Driver Cloud with only the SD video uploaded, when the HD video is uploaded, the shared trip will automatically update for your viewers with the HD video too.
We’ve optimized Driver to upload only over Wi-Fi to protect your cellular plan, but if you’ve got unlimited data, feel free to enable the “Upload HD video over Cellular” feature in Settings within the Driver App.
